Phoebe Townsend

Phoebe

Phoebe (she/her/hers) is passionate about moving Human Resources practices beyond the transactional to the transformational. She supports our clients in making HR processes and systems more efficient and sustainable so staff can focus on their critical work serving communities and making change, and organizations can focus on strategic goals and lasting impact. Phoebe brings eighteen years of HR leadership experience across diverse sectors, from nonprofits and cooperatives to national corporations and leadership positions in municipal government. She has extensive experience leading and supporting equity and inclusion initiatives, and is particularly passionate about empowering staff to feel engaged with their employment experience.

Phoebe partners with clients with a focus on aligning sustainable Human Resources practices with operational and organizational strategy. With a deep commitment to and interest in equity and inclusion at work, Phoebe is especially interested in how issues of gender, power, race, ability, trauma, systemic oppression, psychology and our intersectional identities influence the way we work together as well as drive our collective organizational impact.

Phoebe has experience working with complex organizations in a variety of Human Resources roles, with extensive experience in the areas of employee relations, compliance, labor relations, workforce planning, high-volume recruitment, benefits administration, employee communications, policy and systems design, HRIS and organizational culture and strategy.

Phoebe loves building new and lasting relationships with clients, and the balance of diving deep into complex issues while simultaneously handling less complex - but equally important -HR questions from staff and leadership. Phoebe approaches her work with clients with a focus on responsive service, quality feedback and long term, big-picture solutions, and is thrilled to work with mission-driven clients focused on social impact.

Phoebe holds a B.A. in Professional Studies: Sustainable Organizations from Northern Vermont University, which she completed in 2018 after 15 years of balancing school with full time Human Resources leadership positions.

Phoebe lives in the Adirondack Park in upstate New York with her spouse and two rescue dogs. She enjoys being outside, on or in water, traveling, reading and eating food from all over the world.
